Joe Frank - The Voice In Your Head
Saturday, 8 - 9 PM
Sunday, 10 -11 PM

If you are not familiar with his amazing legacy of radio programs, let
me recap. Joe Frank was on the radio for decades starting in NYC on
WBAI in the 1970s, then NPR and ended his career on KCRW in Los
Angeles with his death in 2018. I don’t think anyone created "Theatre
Of The Mind" radio to his level. He invented and then perfected his
own genre of radio monologue/dialogue. Each show is a journey that is
sometimes surreal, sometimes comic, sometimes harrowing and always
mesmerizing. His impact on listeners is deep and most fans can
remember their first Joe Frank show. David Sedaris, Ira Glass (first
paid radio job was engineering for Joe) and Harry Shearer are all big
fans.

To learn about Joe Frank quickly there is a movie called JOE FRANK -
SOMEWHERE OUT THERE. It's a documentary about his life and work
(available to rent online.) I’ve attached a link to the trailer. It
gives you a short overview of his style, his story and his impact.

From the Joe Frank web page: "Joe Frank’s unique mix of
autobiographical monologues, interviews and candid conversations,
woven together with trance-like music, engage listeners in a
philosophical exploration, an intimate confession, an absurd comedy, a
dark tragedy; all of which Frank takes to the farthest edge while
bringing you along for the alternately emotional and/or enlightening
ride."

I hope some of you will tune in and experience the radio work of Joe Frank.

CAPE MAY RADIO LAUNCHES WILL KEENAN RADIO HOUR

PRESENTED BY ST.BABS

Former Entertainment Industry Professional & St.Babs Founder Expands CMC Reach With WCFA Through Terrestrial Radio, Online Streaming, Video & Podcast

Friday nights at 7 pm starting December 20th, Cape May Radio will premiere original programming hosted by former indie movie star, stuntman and digital entertainment executive Will Keenan, current founder & executive director of the Cape May Courthouse non-profit St.Babs, housed on one of South Jersey’s most historic sacred estates which Keenan reopened in 2017 as an honor to his late mother. St.Babs has been featured in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Press of Atlantic City, The Cape May County Herald, NJ.com, 101.5fm.com, The Daily Mail (UK) and has been awarded grants from Cape May County/NJ Arts Council, The Wawa Foundation, The National Philanthropic Trust & Philadelphia’s Community Design Collaborative. Cape May Radio is part of the veteran Cape May non-profit Center For Community Arts (CCA).

“The Will Keenan Radio Hour Presented by StBabs” is described as a family-fun variety radio format consisting of music, comedy, interviews with local & global celebrities, local/regional/national/global news headlines, a call-in segment called “Ask Me Anything--I’ll Tell Ya The Truth As Far As I Know It” (where call-in guests quiz Keenan) and “Spout-On!” where host Keenan reads top picks in various character voices from the weekly anonymous submissions of the Cape May County Herald’s popular “Spout Off” column. After the initial December 20th premiere of the radio show on Cape May Radio WCFA FM, plans are to also make available the exclusive content online and through podcast & live video from St.Babs. Keenan has worked with celebrities Oscar Winner Shirley MacLaine, Grammy Winners Courtney Love & Pitbull, Emmy Winner Drea DeMatteo, among others, as well as online/digital superstar influencers Michelle Phan, Andy Milonakis, PewDiePie, among many others.

The partnership between CCA (Center For Community Arts)’s WCFA Cape May Radio & Will Keenan’s St.Babs has been made possible in part by funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts / Department of State, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Cape May County Department of Tourism, Public Information, and Culture & Heritage.
